Mary Elon Faircloth Lee

November 11, 1934 — July 17, 2018

Mary Elon Faircloth Lee, born November 11, 1934, in Macon, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday morning, July 17, 2018. Elon was the only child of Rev. D. Horace Faircloth and Rubye McKie Faircloth of Macon, Georgia. In 1952, she graduated from Miller High School in Macon and began a secretarial career working at Cornell-Young Co. in Macon.

In early 1956, she met Billy G. Lee, the love of her life, at Mikado Baptist Church, Macon where she was serving as church pianist. They were married a year later on February 9, 1957 at Mikado Baptist Church. She lived in Macon until 1966 when she and her family moved to Warner Robins.

After the birth of her two children, she was a stay-at-home mother until 1978 when she began a new career in the banking business at Citizens State Bank where she worked until retirement in 1991. She then began a third career as media specialist assistant at Miller Elementary School where she worked until June 1995. She enjoyed her retirement spending time with her family and friends and was an active member of the Greenbrier Garden Club.

Elon was born with a natural talent and love for music. Through the years, she was privileged to share this God-given musical talent as church pianist in many churches playing for choirs and various musical groups. For more than 50 years, she served faithfully as church pianist wherever the Lord led her family. Her last position for 16 years was as a pianist at Central Baptist Church in Warner Robins where she and her family have worshiped since 1979. During these later years, she continued to play the piano for her Sunday school department and the Central 5-0 fellowship group at Central Baptist Church.

Elon was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Billy G. Lee; daughter, Beth Lee Cipolla and husband, Michael Cipolla of Warner Robins, and son, Lt. Col. (USAF, Retired) Carey Lee and wife, Karol Greer Lee of Kathleen; grandsons, Kevin Cipolla of Warner Robins and Greer Lee of Kathleen; granddaughter, Caroline Lee of Kathleen; two sisters-in-law, Gaye Lee Metcalf (Jerry) of Vero Beach, FL, Faye Lee Smith of Brookhaven, MS; Elizabeth Lee, and Glyna Lee; one brother-in-law, Earl W. Lee (Glendell) of Petal, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, July 20, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough. After the service, Elon will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Mausoleum.
