Norman Younce

November 9, 1924 — September 16, 2017

Norman Younce, 92 passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 6:45 p.m. in Warner Robins, Georgia at the Houston Medical Center. He just recently moved to Georgia from North Carolina where he previously lived in the Morganton, North Carolina area for 40+ years.
Norman was born on November 9, 1924, the son of the late June Monroe Younce and Sallie Rainwater Younce Endicott. He was born in Ethel, West Virginia.
Norman was a Merchant Marine with the United States Coast Guard and was honorably discharged. He loved his work and in later years he was an Ordained Pentecostal Minister.
He loved people and had a great positive disposition. He was not a worrier… His favorite expression was “Don’t worry about the little mule when the wagon isn’t loaded yet.” Norman was always uplifting and encouraging to everyone he met. He loved playing the guitar and singing. Norman had CD projects with songs he wrote and published, the last one “I’m Proud To Be A Christian.” His latest book, “From Eternity To Time, From Time To Eternity” is available at Amazon.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, June and Sallie and his siblings, Everett Younce, Beulah Younce Cutshaw, Bobby Younce, Betty Younce Hackney, Peggy Younce, and granddaughter, Raegan Alicia Bryant.

Norman is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Bailey of Kathleen, GA; his children, Elaine Younce Price of Dayton, OH, Regina Younce McBride of Deltona, FL, Lillie Marie Younce Pugh of Oak Ridge, TN, Lee Younce of Marion, NC, Norma June Younce Leaman of Wewahitchka, FL, Heather Younce Smathers of Granite Falls, NC, and Amanda Younce Anderson of Cincinnati, OH; and his siblings, Leatrice Younce Crigger, Bobby Younce, Carol Younce Craddock, Linda Younce Thacker, Shelby Younce Hurley, and Sandy Younce Phipps; nephew, Eddie Younce of Ohio; his grandchildren, Jennifer Setser Brown of O'Fallon, MO, Charles Lee Setser of Jacksonville, FL, Kristen Leigh Younce Elliott of Marion, NC, Aaron Christopher Michael Pugh of Lawrenceville, GA, Noel Marie Pugh of Martin, GA, Nicholas Wayne Pugh of Flowery Branch, GA, Ryan Stephen Leaman of Wewahitchka, FL, Allayah Danielle Ridings of Hickory, NC, and Kiana LeighAnne Ridings of Cincinnati, OH; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Norman will be laid to rest at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, Georgia on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Covenant Church, 3015 Heffner Place, Hudson, North Carolina.
