Obituary

Early on the morning of Monday, June 12, 2017, Verna Mae Jewell Polnaszek, 94, stepped peacefully into eternity.

Mrs. Polnaszek was born on December 27, 1922 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late Hersey and Muriel Ross Jewell. She enjoyed spending time volunteering at the Robins Air Force Base Museum of Aviation. She was also a member of the Pilot Club where she had been named Georgia Mother of the Year. An exceptional cook, Mrs. Polnaszek also loved to read and work in her yard. She found great pleasure in traveling extensively with her late husband, and she had visited all fifty states. But, her greatest joy in life came from time spent with her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Polnaszek; her son, Phillip Polnaszek; her son-in-law, Ted Pratschler; and her siblings, Audrey Olsen, Chuck Jewell, and Frank Jewell.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Meredith "Lee" Kowbel (Larry) of Seattle, Washington, David Polnaszek (Linda) of Portola Valley, California, Leslie A. Pratschler of Jonesboro, Georgia, Mark Polnaszek (Rebecca) of Middletown, Rhode Island, and Lynn Morley (David) of Warner Robins; and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The Polnaszek family would like to express sincere appreciation to the staff and residents of Summer's Landing for their exceptional care and love for Mrs. Polnaszek.

The graveside memorial service celebrating Mrs. Polnaszek's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 19, 2017, at Andersonville National Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Cleghorn officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088 or to any charity of the donor's choice.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mrs. Polnaszek's arrangements.
