During the early morning hours of Sunday, April 16th 2017, William R. Scott, Sr., Bill as he was known to his loved ones, went home after an honorable 83 years spent with his cherished family and friends.
Bill was a proud man, husband, father, grandfather, and United States Air Force Officer servicing his country for 28 years, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He proudly navigated the C-130 Hercules, C-133 Cargo master, and C-124 Globemaster in Military Air Transport missions during the Cold War, Vietnam War, and various peacekeeping efforts. Bill loved his country and his family alike through the years, allowing him to achieve many accomplishments and enjoy many hobbies to include; golfing, traveling, family, and adoring his beloved wife Verna.
Bill, born to late William and Anna Scott in Abington, Pennsylvania will forever be treasured by his devoted wife of 58 years, Verna Scott; his children, William R. Scott, Jr. (Tina), John Scott (Debbie), and Elizabeth Scott; his grandchildren, Daniel Scannell, Jessica McDonald (Timothy), Samantha Scott Sumner, Leslie Scott (Jenna), Cameron Scott, Trevor Scott, and Dylan Scott; and great-granddaughter, Harper McDonald.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday April 21st 2017 at First United Methodist Church. Bill will be laid to rest in a private inurnment at Andersonville National Cemetery.
