SSgt. Rafael Aguila-Galan, US Army (Ret.), 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 10, 2017.
SSgt. Aguila was born on February 6, 1924 in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico to the late Otilio and Ignacia Galan Aguila. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam Conflict before retiring as a Staff Sergeant. He was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
His memory will forever be treasured by his adoring wife, Iris Hernandez Aguila of Warner Robins; his sons, Rafael J. Aguila (Rida) of Warner Robins and Edgardo R. Aguila of Boston, Massachusetts; his grandchildren, Carolyn Dedeugd (Randy) of Texas, Taw-nee Roberts (Brandon) of Warner Robins, Chandra Aguila (Nick) of Birmingham, Alabama, Alexandra Stephens (J.R.) of Macon, Samantha Cuellar (Miguel) of Wahiawa, Hawaii, Bradford Aguila (Mary) of Perry, Kaila Aguila of Kathleen, and Gabe Aguila of Warner Robins; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Rosa Delvalle (Martin) of Puerto Rico.
Visitation with SSgt. Aguila-Galan's family will be Tuesday, May 16, 2017, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 p.m.on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Father Fred Nijem officiating. SSgt. Aguila-Galan will be laid to rest at Magnolia Park Cemetery.
