Obituary

Auda Squires, Jr. went to be with the Lord on the afternoon of Monday, May 15, 2017. He was 90 years old.

Born on December 27, 1926 in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Auda graduated from Parkersburg High School and proudly joined the United States Navy. After serving his country with valor during World War II, he was honorably discharged and went to work with an HVAC company for a short time. On June 25, 1949, Auda made the beautiful Winona Lucille Vaughan his wife and together they started a loving family. He eventually decided that he wanted to make the military his sole career and joined the United States Air Force. With the Air Force, Auda served in Strategic Air Command working on B-52's during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired with the rank of Tech Sergeant.

Subsequent to Auda's military career, he worked in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base and retired from there, as well. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Auda was a born-again Christian and will always be remembered as a man who lived out his faith by being a servant to others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Auda Frank Squires, Sr. and Iva Calhoun Squires; and two sisters.

Auda's memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 67 years, Winona Squires of Warner Robins; children, Sarah E. Tait of Centerville and Auda F. Squires III (Valerie L.) of Hawkinsville; grandchildren, John R. Williams (Stephanie), Christopher L. Williams, Aaron M. Squires (Ashley), and Chelsey E. Palma (Stephen); great-grandchildren, Madelyn Grace Williams, Bentley C. Williams, Bailee R. Squires, Cannon Squires, Kaylan Palma, and Gabriel Palma; and nephew, Robert H. Vaughan (Reneé) of Texas.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, May 19th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Mr. Squires will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens on Saturday morning.
