McCullough Funeral Home Welcomes You

During difficult times, McCullough Funeral Home is here. The COVID-19 situation is complex one, and we want to keep you updated (4/22/20):

UPDATE: 4/22/2020 - We have been asked several times to clarify how Governor Kemp's announcement from Monday 4/20/2020 impacts our business. The short answer: it doesn't. The order changed nothing at all for funeral homes and how we have been operating - we will continue to abide by the still-in-place order from the Governor and the guidance from both the CDC and GA Dept of Public Health. Specifically, Social Distancing is STILL in effect. The Shelter In Place order remains in place. The public health State of Emergency is currently still active through May 13th. That could be extended, we don't - and won't - know. We believe it is absolutely our responsibility to make the decisions that best serve the families in our care, our staff who has risen to the challenge beautifully, and our community as a whole. Our original message follows:

These are uncertain times for our community. We know this and we recognize our role in serving this community is an important and delicate one. The team at McCullough Funeral Home fully recognizes the seriousness of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. We want to assure the public that we are doing everything we can to keep our staff, facility, equipment, and the families and guests we serve safe. The situation is fluid and changing, and we will monitor it hour by hour, day by day. We promise.

We have and will continue to participate in web and conference calls facilitated by the National Funeral Directors Association, the GA Funeral Directors Association, the CDC and the Federal Government. We are following Guidance for Funeral Directors regarding sanitization, disinfecting measures, personal precautions, and directives for social distancing and crowd limiting. Because this is changing rapidly, we will make our families aware of the current guidelines as we are notified of a death.

Making funeral arrangements during these times:

If a death has occurred, or is expected to occur soon, please know we remain available 24/7 to assist you. We will walk families through the process just as we have been doing for 75 years and we will work with each family within the CDC guidelines to be as accomodating to their wishes as possible. Whatever your questions, we will answer them in detail. Arrangements can be made in a myriad of ways, including from a distance via phone, e-mail, Facetime or Skype, or through the use of forms on our website. If you wish to come in person, that can be accommodated and we will talk through how best to accomplish that while following the current guidance that will get us all through these times. Together, we can manage these challenges.

Services:

We expected that attendance at services would naturally decrease due to public awareness about COVID-19. However, due to updated CDC guidelines, funerals and memorial services will be limited to family only events, or graveside services. We ask that visitations be limited to family only or private non-public viewings. This will be limited, per the Executive Order here in Georgia to ten or fewer people, and those will need to socially distance if they do not live in the same household. We encourage friends to reach out to our families via our online guestbooks at mcculloughfh.com/obituaries. There you can read and share the obituary, leave a memory and condolences for the family to read, and watch Video Tributes. Additionally, please know there are simple ways we can share services through social media and online so that friends can participate from a distance; we will discuss these possibilities with each family and we will make this available should they wish for us to do so.

The future:

As we are learning, this situation changes from day to day - even hour to hour. While we work to serve our families in uncertain times, we will strive to provide ways for everyone to participate and surround one other with support during times of loss, and we will do so while doing our part to maintain the safety of our families, their friends, our staff and community.

We will keep this space updated and please know you can call on us at (478) 953-1478 and we will do our best to answer your questions and help you find resources to get through this time. We want to thank our community in advance for your understanding as we move forward into unprecedented territory.
