Joseph W. Bender, 76, has gone on to a new and more wonderful life on Saturday, March 29, 2014.
Joseph was born on May 3, 1937 in Washington, D.C. to the late Clarence and Josephine Bender Travers. He was of the Catholic faith. With pride and honor, he served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era, receiving a bronze star and retiring in 1989 after a distinguished career. Joseph also retired from Hudson Poly Bag in Hudson, Massachusetts. He loved dancing, classical music, fishing, and was an avid wine taster. His parents, six brothers, and parents in law, Mack S. Fluellen, Sr. and Minnie L. Fluellen, all preceded him in death.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving and devoted wife of thirty five years, Pradies Mae Bender, daughter and son in law, Lisa and Bruce Sipp, Macon; two step children, siblings, Steven, Alan, Barbara, Claudia, Yvonne, and Eunice; and grandchildren, David, Jade, and Bruce Sipp, Jr.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2014 in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given to the Wounded Warrior's Project, 4899 Belfort Road Ste. 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256.
