Alan Dale Gibson

July 27, 1952 — April 27, 2020

Alan Dale Gibson, age 67, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 27, 2020.

Alan “Dale” was born in Kentucky, the son of Rudy and Agnes Gibson. In 1974, he wed Claudia Syrk with whom he enjoyed 46 years of marriage.

For over eight years, Alan Dale honorably served his country in the United States Army. He specialized in Explosive Ordnance Disposal while on active duty. He continued his service in the Army Reserves involved in writing, administering and evaluating annual readiness testing for Reserve and National Guard units in a 13-state area. While in the Reserves, Alan Dale attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado, graduating 22 May 1980 with the degree of Bachelor of Science – Mechanical Engineering. He received his Professional Engineering license in 1984. Alan Dale worked in the oil and gas industry followed by Federal Service as an Environmental Engineer.

His favorite pastimes included working the earth to grow fruits, vegetables, and flowers, and playing cards and games. Alan Dale was Claudia’s high school sweetheart, her “rock,” and best friend. He challenged others to see things from all perspectives. Most of all, he deeply loved his family.

Alan Dale is survived by his wife, Claudia; mother, Agnes; sons, Jason (Elvira) and Christopher (Kristi); five grandchildren; and siblings, Barry Gibson (Cathy), Terri Shackelford, Janet Barkley (Kenny), and Matt Gibson (Annmarie). He was preceded in death by his father, Rudy; and sister, Kathy Bateman.

Current Covid-19 restrictions in place still affect funeral customs and traditions. As a result, Alan Dale will be laid to rest at a later date in Magnolia Park Cemetery with Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Alan D. Gibson to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for the greatest needs of the Parish at 300 S. Davis Dr., Bldg. 300, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
