Alberta Padgett Lewis

Alberta Padgett Lewis, 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 22, 2018.

Alberta was born on July 29, 1936 in McRae, Georgia to the late George Oscar Padgett and Eula Mae Spires Padgett. She attended Dodge County High School and in 1956 married Ralph James Bonawitz. Ralph passed away in 1972 when their children were only the ages of 8 and 10. In 1977, Alberta married her high school sweetheart, a handsome gentleman by the name of Franklin W. Lewis. She was a loving homemaker and a great mother. Alberta’s favorite pastimes included traveling to the beach and to the mountains, and fishing.

In addition to her parents and her first husband, Alberta was preceded in death by her brother, Pat Padgett.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband of 41 years, Franklin W. Lewis; children, Cindy Swafford (Barry) of Warner Robins, Georgia and Randy John Bonawitz (Lynda Christine) of Perry, Georgia; stepchildren, Richard Lewis (Leanne) of West Palm Beach, Florida and Caroline Lewis of Gatlinburg, Tennessee; grandchildren, Matthew Swafford, Blake Swafford, Johnathan Bonawitz, A.J. Bonawitz, MaKenzie Bonawitz, Brandon Lewis, Riley Lewis, Tyler McFalls, Erica McFalls, Justin Quarels of Warner Robins, Georgia, Christina Willis of Perry, Georgia, and Dalyn O’Brien of Warner Robins, Georgia; and great-grandchildren, Blakely Elizabeth Swafford, Chloe, Sophie, Jordan, Kinley, Jaxson and Emersyn; siblings, John Padgett (Mary Ann) of Centerville, Georgia, Kenneth Padgett (Sara) of Perry, Georgia, and Oris Padgett (Eloise) of Elko, Georgia; and uncle, Clarence Padgett of Dry Branch, Georgia.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 25, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on November 25, 2018 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterwards, Mrs. Lewis will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Mrs. Lewis to Mothers against drunk driving MADD, 511 E. John Carpenter Freeway Irving, Texas 75062

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mrs. Alberta Lewis’ arrangements.
