Aldo Wilson

Aldo Wilson, age 94, passed away on December 17, 2020, in Macon.

Aldo was born in Christian Light, North Carolina, on September 18, 1926, to the late Franklin and Lenna Wilson. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the Korean War and spent most of his life after the war as a metal fabricator and welder at Asheville Steel in Asheville, North Carolina. He married Mary Wilson of Fairview, North Carolina, on October 12, 1952, and the couple were married for 52 years.

Aldo liked to get to the heart of how things worked and often used “reverse engineering” to repair broken equipment. He was passionate about the Atlanta Braves, boxing, college basketball, and football. Aldo also enjoyed being outdoors, where he spent a lot of time in the garden and mowing his yard.

In addition to his parents, Aldo was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Wilson, and daughter-in-law, Donna Wilson of Byron.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, David Wilson (Nancy) of Byron, and daughter Rita Wilson of Livingston, Texas; grandsons, David Wilson, Jr. (Megan) of Byron and Christopher Wilson of Lumberton, Texas; granddaughters, Tiffany Pattillo (Blake) of Perry and Megan Wainwright of Butler, Georgia; and great grandchildren, Owen Wilson of Byron, Olivia Pattillo and Evelyn Pattillo, both of Perry.
In lieu of flowers, Aldo’s family requests that in memory of him his friends routinely display simple acts of kindness for strangers.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. at Byron Baptist Church in Byron. An additional memorial service is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, January 9, 2021, in Fairview, North Carolina. His final resting place will be in Fairview.
