Alma Mixon Blair Johnson

July 27, 1927 — June 8, 2017

On the afternoon of Thursday, June 8, 2017, Alma Johnson went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in heaven. She was 89 years old.

Alma was born on July 27, 1927 to the late Walter R. and Flaudie Vaughn Rowland on a farm in Peach County near Fort Valley, Georgia where she was raised. In 1949, she married William M. Mixon and together they raised two daughters with unconditional love and guidance. Alma graduated from Crandall Business College and was a key punch clerk at Robins Air Force Base for several years before retiring. Subsequent to her retirement from Civil Service, she worked with the Credit Bureau and later went on to obtain a license in real estate. Alma found that being a realtor in Middle Georgia was a true passion of hers as she was given the opportunity to search for homes, and most importantly, to help people.

As a young woman, Alma enjoyed bowling with the Morning Glories Bowling League, and as she grew older, she took interest in gardening and sewing. One of Alma's favorite pastimes was doing genealogical research and was a past member of the Central Georgia Genealogical Society. She loved listening to country music and bluegrass and also vacationing at the beach. Alma was known for her unwavering patriotism and respect for military personnel and law enforcement. Anytime she saw a person in either uniform, she would hug them and thank them for their service. Alma loved all of her family and friends and leaves behind countless memories with each of them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 50 years, William M. Mixon; her second husband of 12 years, Boyd Henry Blair; and her siblings, Leola Mercer, Powers Rowland, Willie Rowland, Eunice Johnson, Inez Coakley, and Walter Rowland, Jr.

Alma leaves her memory behind with her husband, Durham Johnson of Warner Robins; daughters, Sherrie Dukes (Lenn) of Culloden and Teresa Tribble (Dennis) of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Dustin P. Smith (Kristen), Rachel N. Malone (Nathaniel), Jesse Tribble, and Aaron Tribble; and great-grandson, Cruz Smith.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 10th at 2:00 p.m. in Magnolia Park Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.
