Anna Mae Blanton

Anna Mae Blanton, 88, died on Sunday, August 26, 2018.

Anna Blanton was born on November 9, 1929 in Summers County, West Virginia to the late William Jennings Shumate and Elizabeth Alzie Frith Shumate. She was a wonderful homemaker who faithfully served her husband and the Lord. Although she did not work outside the home, Mrs. Blanton was very active in her church and community. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and enjoyed serving her community in organizations such as: Taking Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) and Warner Robins Art Association. Mrs. Blanton dedicated many hours to volunteering for Meals on Wheels and the Red Cross, as well. Her hobbies included painting, gardening, and crocheting. Mrs. Blanton’s generosity and loyalty to her many friends will forever live in the hearts of all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, William Shumate and Billy Joe Shumate; and sister, Mary Overby. Her memory will forever be treasured by her adoring husband of 64 years, George L. Blanton of Bonaire.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The funeral service celebrating her life will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Dr. Paul Cowles officiating. Following the service, Mrs. Blanton will be laid to rest in Bonaire Cemetery.
