Arthur Louis Rhoades

January 29, 1953 — February 7, 2019

Arthur L. Rhoades, age 66, passed away on February 7, 2019, at the Medical Center of Navicent Health in Macon, Georgia. He was born on January 29, 1953, in Putnam, Connecticut, to the late Cordelia “Mable” and Erwin Rhoades. Art grew up in Thompson, Connecticut, and was a 1971 graduate from Tourtellotte Memorial High School. He married Kathleen Kelleher on June 11, 1983, in Thompson, Connecticut. Art retired from Anchor Glass Container Corporation after 45 years of service. He was a member of the Macon Harley Davidson Hog Chapter, the National Rifle Association, the Cushman Scooter Association, a member and editor of the Georgia Sidecar Club. Art was also a long-time member of the Harley Owners Group, and a lifetime member of the American Motorcycle Association.

Art was a quiet, kind, and gentle man with a world of wisdom. He was a man of few words, though when he spoke, people listened. He was a talented writer and had a “Rhoades” sense of humor. Art truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as spending time with family and friends, taking day trips with his grandkids, shooting his multiple guns at the shooting range with friends, going on motorcycle rallies, and relaxing with a cold beer.

In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by his brother, Vernon Rhoades.

Art, aka Grandpa Rhoades, will be missed by many and is survived by his wife, Kathy Rhoades; his brother, Allen Rhoades and his wife Mary Rhoades; his children, Tom Rhoades, Sandy Kulterman and her husband Tim Kulterman, Shari Ternowchek and her husband Chris Ternowchek, and Katie Smith and her husband Brandon Smith; his ten grandchildren; and his four great grandchildren.
