Avis Cummings Greer

Avis Cummings Greer, 90, entered into rest on Monday, April 30, 2012.

Mrs. Greer was born on August 27, 1921 in Roberta, Georgia. She was a longtime member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church. Avis retired from Coliseum Medical Center where she worked for many years as a Nursing Assistant. A member of the Eastern Star, she was honored to be Past Worthy Matron of the Rutland Chapter in Macon. Her husband, Newton Marvin Greer, daughter, Theresa G. Wells, and her parents, Lewis Taylor Cummings and Lila Jane Cummings, all preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Gerald M. Greer, Albany; George R. Greer, Macon; Olivia N. Greer, Warner Robins; many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012 in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fort Valley with Reverend Andy Cook officiating. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Shirley Hills Baptist Church, 615 Corder Road, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
