Barbara Joyce Jester

December 18, 1935 — June 23, 2021

Lifelong Middle Georgia resident, Barbara Joyce Jester, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. Born on December 18, 1935 in Byron, Barbara lived a full and joyful 85 years.

Barbara spent most of her young life in Perry, Georgia and attended Warner Robins High School. After high school, she worked at the soda fountain at Kite’s Drug Store and then in the concession stand at M&T Drive-In. It was while she was working at the drive-in that Barbara met Britt Jester. It was love at first sight and the couple was married three weeks after their first meeting. After their marriage, the Jesters started a family that would become the center of Barbara’s life. Nearly every Sunday, Barbara would cook a large meal for her family, inviting all to her table. Cooking for her family was second nature and she loved having her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family in her home.

For 35 years, Barbara worked for the Security Police at Robins Air Force Base before her retirement. During her time in the workforce, she was an excellent employee who earned many awards for her performance. When she wasn’t cooking for her family, Barbara spent her time solving crossword puzzles. At 7:00 p.m. on weekdays, though, Barbara would shush her family so she could watch her beloved Wheel of Fortune. She was a devoted Wheel Watcher, never missing an episode.

Preceding Barbara to Heaven were her parents, William D. Leverette and Dorsey E. Logue Childers; husband, Britt Jester; son, Janssen Jester; son-in-law, Tim Linderman; and siblings, William R. Leverette, Howell B. Turner, Phyllis Wilder, and Johnny Turner.

Those left to treasure the memory of their beloved matriarch are daughters, Cynthia Bush (Luther) of Byron, Jeannie Jester of Byron, and Barbara Linderman of Warner Robins; daughter-in-law, Wanda Jester; grandchildren, Nichole Farmer (Darren), Tiffany Baker (Andrew), Jessica Burdeshaw (Corey), Joshua Linderman, Jennafer Hammond (Paul), Lindsey Jones, Will Jester (Ellie), and Katie Jester; and great grandchildren, Sherlon Weneck (William), Caleb Farmer, Kyle Farmer, McKenzie, Emma, and Wyatt Baker, Corbin, Gavin, Madison, and Emerlyn Burdeshaw, Nolan Hammond, Jaxson Jones, Abney and Riley Jester, and Palmer Hammock; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at McCullough Funeral Home.
