Barbara Strandburg

Barbara Lois Conroy Strandburg, 95, passed away peacefully at her home early on the morning of Saturday, November 18, 2017.

Mrs. Strandburg was born on July 1, 1922, in Warren, Pennsylvania to the late Harry and Mary Stillwell Conroy. After graduating from Warren High School, she earned her Registered Nursing certificate from the W.C.A. Hospital of Nursing in Jamestown, New York before marrying her beloved husband, Lewis Arnold Strandburg, on August 4, 1945. Together, they lived in Staten Island, Mineola, and Pound Ridge, New York before relocating to Jacksonville, Florida in 1981. Mrs. Strandburg devoted 25 years of her life to volunteer service at Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her husband and her brother, Buddy Conroy.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Roger W. Strandburg (Sara) of Peachtree City, Georgia, Gary L. Strandburg (Carol) of Perry, Georgia, Cynthia S. Harkness (Dave) of Wilton, Connecticut, Barbara Dolson (Tim) of Palm Harbor, Florida and Virginia Goodrich (Jim) of Jacksonville, Florida; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her brother, Junie Conroy; and her sister, Cissy Tunstall.

At the family’s request, a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
