Benny E. Dixon

Benny E. Dixon, 76, entered into rest on Sunday, January 18, 2009 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Mr. Dixon was born on July 31, 1932 in Tifton. He served with pride and honor in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded a Purple Heart. He subsequently continued to serve as a civil servant as a Logistics Specialist until he retired from Robins Air Force Base. He called Warner Robins First Baptist Church his church home. His wife, Marilyn Gard Dixon and parents, James E. Dixon, Sr. and Emma Freeman Blackburn, preceded him in death.

His memory will forever be treasured by his daughters, Melanie Joris, Macon, Amy McCorkle, Port St. Lucie, Florida, Roxsanne Roush, Warner Robins and Sherri Furtney, Warner Robins; son, David Roush, Alpharetta; brother, James E. Dixon, Jr., Byron and Donald C. Dixon, Tallahassee, Florida; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Glenda Woolston, South Carolina; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2009, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with visitation immediately preceding at 12:00 p.m. Entombment will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Treasure Coast Mayes Center for Hope, Port St. Lucie Team, 10360 S. Federal Highway, Port St. Lucie FL 34952, or to the American Legion, 172 Radio Loop, Warner Robins GA 31088, or to Hospice Care Options, 1125 Walnut Street, Macon GA 31201.
