Bettie Sue Bombok

August 1, 1943 — May 5, 2015

Her husband, family and friends ask you to REJOICE with us all as we announce that our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend has gone home to be with the Lord. Her amazing life has been documented in the hearts of the many people she touched through the 71 years this world has been blessed with her presence. While the space she occupied will be vacant, and as we mourn the loss of her in our own daily lives, we are confident that this is only a temporary absence, giving us peace knowing that she is resting in the wings of the Lord – waiting for the resurrection and the reunion of her loved ones.

Born in Kingsport, Tennessee, to Margaret (Smith) Draughn Vinson and John H. Draughn, Bettie Sue is survived by the love of her life, her soul mate and husband, James Allen Bombok. Bettie Sue and James are most recently from Athens, Maine although their many years together included time spent in the Tampa Bay area of Florida, Las Vegas, Nevada, Northeastern Ohio and now in Warner Robins, Georgia.

Bettie Sue is also survived by her children: Melinda Sue Reeve of Lizella, Georgia, Dia Cremeans of Bremen, Georgia, Debbie Ritchie of Waco, Georgia, and Wendy Moors of New Port Richey, Florida. Additionally, Bettie Sue has three step-children that she also loved as her own: Betsy Perez, Pamela Tigert, and James J. Bombok.

Her lifetime as the Matriarch of this large family has caused the world to be enriched by the birth and lives of her 21 grandchildren, and as of the date of her passing, 24 great-grandchildren. Her family and therefore her impact on our world extends to many states in this country, including Ohio, Maine, Georgia, Florida, Nevada and Arizona.

Bettie Sue loved to garden. Her love for flowers and plants led to her career as a florist where her natural creative talent was utilized to bring beauty and nature together for the enjoyment of others. She owned and operated her own florist shops in both Florida and Nevada until her retirement and subsequent return to Florida in 2009. It was often discussed that her creative talents were only exceeded by her love for her family and her Lord.

Her family will be holding a private memorial on Saturday, June 6, 2015 in her home. Bettie Sue and James had recently purchased a new home in Warner Robins. To commemorate her life, the family will honor her by completing her landscape plans for her home. The family respectfully asks that no flowers be sent to her home at this time. Anyone wishing to express their sympathy or love may do so by purchasing a memorial plant for her yard. Please contact the family for more information; msreeve@live.com.
