Betty Jean Wilson

December 22, 1927 — April 13, 2020

Betty Jean (Sessions) Wilson, 92, of Warner Robins, GA entered peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Monday, April 13, 2020.

Betty was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on December 22, 1927, to the late Bessie and Clinton Henry Sessions, Sr. At the age of 17, she began working for the U.S. Army Air Corps. In 1949, Betty married her late husband Thomas. The couple then relocated from Cherry Point, NC to Warner Robins, GA., where they raised two sons, Robin and Victor. There at Robins Air Force Base, Betty was employed in the civil service as a purchaser & logistics technician. She retired in 1984 after 33 years of dedicated service.

Betty had a profound and abiding faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a fierce Holy Ghost anointed prayer warrior who stayed true to her Christian morals, both in her political views as well as her personal life. Betty delighted in the Scriptures, reading through the Bible in its entirety each year. A longtime member of Green Street Church of God, she was a dedicated leader of the Ladies Auxiliary. She also spent several years as a member of First Assembly of God in Warner Robins. When Betty was no longer able to physically attend church, she became a member of Jimmy Swaggart’s Family Worship Center Media Church.

Betty loved all people dearly, especially her family. Betty showed that love in selfless service and was always there to help anyone in need. Sweet and kind all of her life, she always displayed great humility. Betty was a ray of sunshine to those closest to her. As a talented cook and baker, she always enjoyed having a good meal and visiting with friends. Betty loved her home in Georgia. An avid gardener, Betty enjoyed maintaining her beautiful flowerbeds and tending to her yard.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Thomas M. Wilson (1998), son, J. Robin Wilson (2004); sister, C. Evelyn Mangum (2015); and brother, Hosea Sessions (1957).

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Victor Wilson (Kathleen) and grandsons, Daniel and Thomas Wilson, of Manchester, CT; daughter-in-law Donna Wilson of Dallas, TX; and siblings, Shirley Duncan of Sale Creek, TN, Kathleen Hamilton (Carl), of Townsend, GA, Ann Norris and Elsie Smith of Chickamauga, TN, Sharon Morgan (Morris), of Stafford, VA, and Clinton Sessions, Jr. (Dorothy), of Ruskin, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to express a special ‘Thank You’ to Mrs. Brenda Sanders, a friend, neighbor, and caretaker.

Current Covid-19 restrictions in place also affect funeral customs and traditions. As a result, friends of Mrs. Wilson will be able to drop in for viewing and to pay respects at the funeral home on Friday, April 24, 2020, between the hours of 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. The process for this, however, will be that no more than 10 people will be allowed inside at one time, and social distance will be maintained. A private graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2020. For friends wishing to support the family, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Betty Wilson to Serenity Hospice, 1057 N. Houston Rd, Warner Robins, GA 31093.
