Betty Richter Nichols

Betty R. Nichols, 94, entered into rest on Wednesday, July 6, 2011.

Mrs. Nichols was born on February 23, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois. She was of the Presbyterian faith. A wonderful and loving homemaker, Betty always made time for her family. She had an infectious smile, always saw the positive in all things, was a peacemaker, fun loving, and enjoyed telling and hearing jokes. She had a huge gift of music; was an excellent keyboard player, piano and organ player. Betty loved Jazz, Ragtime, Big Brass Bands and Liberace. She was a tutor, spelling bee queen, loved crossword puzzles, word searches, and enjoyed playing cards and board games. Betty was a great cook with a fully stocked pantry at all times; she enjoyed organizing parties and cooking for family and friends. Betty was a true friend and being with her meant it was time to smile and enjoy the moments and make good memories. She also was an avid bowler, swimmer, diver, skier, gymnast, dancer, dog fancier, letter writer and seamstress. She had so many great qualities and leaves behind a legacy her family is proud to carry on. Her husband, Max "Dick" A. Nichols; parents, Fred A. Richter and Charlotte G. Richter, and brother, Arthur G. Richter, all preceded her in death.

She will forever live in the hearts of her children, John H. and Kim Nichols, Warner Robins; Karol S. and James H. King, Byron; William A. and Jeanette Nichols, Henderson, Nevada; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 10 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2011 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with Reverend Ron Holland officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
