Betty T. Evans

Betty Evans, 77, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2016.

Betty was born on April 25, 1939 in Dublin, Georgia to the late Malcolm and Marie Clements Thigpen. She was a salvage clerk at Robins Air Force base for many years before retiring. Betty was a member of Elberta Baptist Church where she was the Secretary, Song Director, and the Youth Sunday School teacher. She was very involved in our community, she was the Treasurer of the Centerville Senior Citizens Club, and she was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekah's. Betty was the current Noble Grand of Franklin Lodge #2, I.O.O.F. and current Representative to the International Rebekah Assembly. In previous years she was President of the Rebekah Assembly of Georgia and the President of the Southeastern Association of Odd Fellows and Rebekah's. However, her greatest joy came from her beloved family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she is preceded her in death by her sister, Shirley Gossett of Warner Robins.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband of 59 years, J.C. Evans of Warner Robins; children, J. Randy Evans (Linda) of Atlanta; Greg Evans (Cenith) of Cochran; grandchildren, Charlie Evans and Tiffany Evans-Elliott, both of Cochran, Jake Evans of Atlanta; great-grandchildren, Thomas Evans, Kennon Elliott, Charles Elliott, Maggie-Grace Evans, all of Cochran; brother, Amberce Thigpen (Frances) of Rockledge; sister, Carol Joiner of Bonaire; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Visitation with Betty's family will be Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2016 in the Chapel of McCullough. Following the service, Mrs. Evans will be entombed at Parkway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
