Beverly J. Scott

July 24, 1943 — December 16, 2007

Beverly Jane Scott, 64, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2007 at her home and surrounded by her family after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis and cancer.

Beverly was born July 24, 1943 in Cedar City, Utah, to her parents Steven and Thelma James. On July 10, 1964 she married William Thomas Scott of Washington, North Carolina and they were dear sweethearts for 43 years.

She spent her life in the service of her family and friends and loved being a homemaker. She was very skilled in the homemaking arts and felt that the most important work she would ever do would be within the walls of her home. Beverly Scott was a strong woman who was well read, perceptive and quick witted. She became an inspiration to all who knew her.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Warner Robins. As a member, she served in several callings, but her greatest enjoyment was serving as a seminary teacher for six years, teaching the youth about the gospel of Jesus Christ. In her retirement, she served a full-time mission with her husband in Navuoo, Illinois. As a missionary, she delivered history lectures, participated in historical dramas and testified to the purpose of life.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Scott, son and daughter-in-law Tommy and Kim Scott, of Sandy, Utah; son, Mike Scott, of Centerville; daughter and son-in-law Beth and Justin Vanderwalker of Fort Mill, South Carolina. Other survivors include Becky Scott and grandchildren: Jared Scott, Ben Scott, Amanda Scott, Erin Scott, Austin Scott, Ashleigh Vanderwalker, Spencer Vanderwalker, Samantha Vanderwalker, and Jessica Vanderwalker. A son, Mark Scott, preceded Beverly in death. She is also survived by an older brother, Rhett James, presently living in Salt Lake City, and a younger brother, David James, living in Orem, Utah.

Family members will be receiving visitors at McCullough Funeral Home the evening of Monday, December 17, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Beverly Scott’s funeral service will take place in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint Chapel in Warner Robins, located at 200 Draper Street.
