Brent Anton Norris

May 30, 1956 — November 22, 2016

Brent Norris, 60, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 22, 2016.

Born in Macon, Georgia on May 30, 1956, Brent grew up in Warner Robins and graduated with the Warner Robins High School Class of 1974. He was an outstanding member of the WRHS Demons Varsity Football team for all three years.

Brent was a graduate of Georgia Southern College where he received his degree in Therapeutic Recreation and was an active member of Sigma Pi Fraternity. He moved to Warm Springs from Warner Robins where he followed his ambitions by working with students at the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute. While there, he taught school and was actively involved in the Georgia Special Olympics. Brent was also involved in developing a Georgia Chapter of the U.S. Association for Blind Athletes.

For 25 years he enjoyed organizing charities and fun events to support the children with special needs. Unfortunately, Brent encountered some health issues and was forced into an early retirement. He moved back to Warner Robins and volunteered at the Museum of Aviation in Hangar One and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was also an active member of the local Lions Club. Brent was always an avid UGA Football fan who also enjoyed golfing and fishing. On Friday nights, he volunteered with local high school football teams videotaping the games.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Natalie Norris Claxton and father, William Lofton "Bill" Norris; and his stepfather, Lee Roy Claxton.

Brent leaves his memory behind with his loving sisters, Donna L. Norris of Warner Robins and Bonnie Norris Torras of Smyrna; stepsiblings, Em Barton and Kip Claxton; aunts and uncles, Kathy Dangar (Hoyt), Brinette Rogers, Jimmy Norris, and C.L. Waller; his niece, Katie Torras and nephew, Austin Torras; and cousins, Terry Norris, Robert Rogers (Patricia), Robyn Mills, Michelle Cullens, and Freddie Layton.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 30th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 1st in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Following the service, Brent will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.
