Bruce Alan Applewhite

Bruce Alan Applewhite, 61, entered into rest on Thursday, March 3, 2022.

Bruce was born on March 16, 1960, in Jackson, Mississippi. As a teen, he rode horses and played polo. Bruce went on to earn his Master’s Degrees in accounting and finance before working at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) in Tifton for 20 years. During his time at ABAC, he was a faculty advisor for the rodeo team and heavily involved getting horse stables constructed on the campus. Bruce then moved to the Middle Georgia area and worked 10 years at Macon State College in Admissions. During that time, he enjoyed coaching soccer (and his son) at the Central Georgia Soccer Association Complex. He went on to own and operate, Apple’s Vending. In his free time, he enjoyed touring on his motorcycle, snow skiing, and fishing. His zest for life was enduring to all who knew him and will be dearly missed.

Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Carroll Daniel Applewhite.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years, Lena Applewhite of Bonaire; son, Heath Hosch of Gainesville, Georgia; mother, Margie Applewhite of Tifton; brother, Paul Applewhite (Linda) of Seattle, Washington; stepbrother, John Baldwin Davis, III (Shelly) of Tifton; as well as several other loving extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 6, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Zion Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton at a private graveside service.
