Cmsgt. Harry Eugene Burke, Usaf (Ret.)

April 21, 1934 — May 24, 2018

Harry “Skip” Eugene Burke left this world to join his beloved wife of 64 years, Joanna E. Burke in heaven on the afternoon of Thursday, May 24, 2018. He was 84.

Born in McMechen, West Virginia on April 21, 1934, Harry was the son of the late Edward V. and Mildred McNabe Burke. He was a United States Air Force Vietnam Veteran who bravely served his country with pride and honor for 30 years. During his military career, Harry spent 14 years overseas and eventually retired in 1984 with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant.

In 2005, Harry and Joanna relocated from Mississippi to Warner Robins following Hurricane Katrina. They settled in with ease and Warner Robins quickly became their home. In his free time, Harry enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family. Any time they were all together at home was truly a blessing to him. The Burke’s were also devout parishioners of Our Lady of the Skies at Robins Air Force Base Chapel.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Edward Lee Burke and Mary Katherine Lowery.

Harry’s memory will forever be treasured by his loving children, Lynn Marie Moore of Litchfield Park, Arizona, Cathy Louise Burke of Topeka, Kansas, Kelly Ann Burke of Lawrence, Kansas, and Thomas P. Burke (Sheila) of Warner Robins; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. A committal service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Milledgeville, where Harry and Joanna will be laid to rest together.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Harry to Encompass Home Health and Hospice, 5233 Riverside Dr., Suite C, Macon, GA 31210.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mr. Burke’s arrangements.
