Warner Robins – CMSgt James L. Boswell, Jr., 85, entered into rest on Saturday, April 30, 2016.

Chief Boswell was born on October 11, 1930, in Colerain, North Carolina, to the late James and Dellie Hughes Boswell. Jim was a retired Chief Master Sargent of the United States Air Force. Chief Boswell proudly served overseas in Japan, Japanese Island of Sudo, Korea and Panama Canal Zone. Chief Boswell served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

Jim retired from the Air Force in July of 1968. Following retirement from the Air Force, Jim was employed by Bibb Manufacturing Company in Macon, Georgia as an Employment Manager for the Macon division and Manager of Supervisory Training and Development. In 1985, Jim joined Blue Bird Body Company in Fort Valley as Director of Human Resources before retiring in January of 1994.

Mr. Boswell was active in support of various sports activities in Warner Robins and Houston County. He served three years as President of Warner Robins Touchdown club and four years as a member of the Houston County Board of Education, retiring in 2006 as Vice Chairman.

Chief Boswell was an ordained Elder of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Warner Robins. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren and he enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Edna Todd Brinkly of Ahoski, North Carolina; Pat Timberlake of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina and step mother, Evelyn Holleman Boswell, also of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

His memory will be treasured by his wife of sixty-four years, Helen Elizabeth Boswell; son, Michael Boswell (Dianne Chamblee) of Milledgeville; daughter, Deborah Boswell Younger (Mike) of Minnesota; son, Steven Boswell (Laura) of Maysville; grandchildren, Julie Varon (Scott), Jennifer Anderson (Bryan), Carter Boswell and Blakeley Whitmire; great grandchildren, Reece, Grant and Sawyer Varon, Paige and Conner Anderson and Charles Manley; brother Joe (Hazel) of Robersonville, North Carolina; sister, Sheila Morgan (Charley) of Atlantic Beach, North Carolina and Sharon Peale of Greenville, North Carolina.

Visitation will be Monday, May 2, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Burial will be private.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of James L. Boswell, Jr. to a charity of the donor's choice.
