Cmsgt. Joseph L. Frisch, Usaf (Ret)

January 7, 1940 — May 8, 2016

Joseph Lee Frisch, 76, went to his eternal rest on Sunday, May 8, 2016, after a long battle with cancer.

Joe was born on January 7, 1940 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan College, where he honed the skills as an educator which he used throughout his careers.
Joe served proudly in the United States Army for three years and the Air Force for 27 years, in Germany, Korea, Vietnam and other duty stations. He was the recipient of many awards and decorations during his service to our nation. In Berlin, Germany Joe served as a member of the occupational force. He served in Vietnam as an English instructor in Saigon, SVN. On August 7, 1969, four explosions ripped through the South Vietnamese AF School, killing 8 people and injuring 62. He survived the attack after being wounded and was awarded The Purple Heart on August 12, 1969. After his retirement from the Air Force on February 1, 1988, he worked as a Civilian Medic at Robins Air Force Base Clinic for 17 years until his retirement in 2006.

Joe attended both Our Lady of the Skies Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and was active in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Prayer Group. Throughout his life, Joe remained a staunch Notre Dame "Fighting Irish" fan. His life was one of service to others. Entertaining others through his singing and guitar playing remained one of his greatest joys.

His memory will be cherished by his wife of 48 years, Patricia Ann Reaves Frisch of Warner Robins; two sons, Joseph L., Jr., of Warner Robins and William R. (Shalene) of New York; and two grandchildren, Michael and Sarandon. Joe is also survived by a brother, Andy Frisch of Richmond, Virginia, sisters, Mary Steinmetz, Elizabeth Pulford, and Edith Gravatte, all of Louisville, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand Frisch and Loretta Ludwig Frisch; and his sisters, Carol Frisch Maupin and Virginia Frisch Clinard.

A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11th with visitation following until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Following the service, Mr. Frisch will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
