Cmsgt. Mario J. Plocki, Usaf (Ret.)

April 26, 1955 — September 10, 2018

CMSgt. Mario Jorge Plocki, USAF (Ret.), 63, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 10, 2018.

CMSgt. Plocki was born on April 26, 1955, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to the late Leonhard and Juana Rosa Wocheslander Plocki. His formative years were spent in Rio where he took full advantage of the beaches and tropical weather. In January 1971, his family moved to The Bronx in New York City where he graduated from Evander Childs High School in 1973. As a high school senior, he worked as a shipping clerk in Manhattan and was a member of the Teamsters’ Union. CMSgt. Plocki joined the United States Air Force in 1974 and completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. He graduated from Environmental Systems Technical School at Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois in September 1974. After that, he was assigned to Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina where he worked on C-141 Aircraft Environmental Systems. While on active duty, CMSgt. Plocki was promoted “below the zone” to the rank of Senior Airman (E4) and also received numerous awards to include Airman of the Month, Room of the Month, and Sharp Airman Award. He was honorably discharged from active duty as a “buck sergeant” (E4).

CMSgt. Plocki attended Trident Technical College in Charleston, South Carolina in 1978 and 1979, learning to be an Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Repairman. He worked in that field until 1981 when he joined the Air Force Reserve at Charleston Air Force Base, working again as an Aircraft Environmental Systems Technician, and subsequently becoming an Air Reserve Technician (ART) in the same shop. He was promoted to Master Sergeant (E7) in April 1992 under the Promotion Enhancement Program (PEP). In 1995, he was selected for an Air Guard Reserve (AGT) position at Headquarters Air Force Reserve, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. He returned to the ART program in 1997 and was promoted to the highest enlisted rank of Chief Master Sergeant (E9) later that year. He retired from the Air Force Reserve in April 2010.

Outside his stellar military career, CMSgt. Plocki’s family was the center of his world. In December 1983, his son, Brandon Scott Plocki, was born, and CMSgt Plocki could not have been more proud. He was overjoyed when Brandon married the former Nicole Williams in March 2012. In December 2010, CMSgt. Plocki met the former Janit Andales. He married Janit, the love of his life and his best friend, in April 2013. He considered himself greatly blessed to have such a caring and loving wife.

In addition to Janit, Brandon, and Nicole, CMSgt. Plocki’s memory will forever be treasured by his granddaughter, Isabella Plocki; his stepson, Colin Heath Calhoun; his brother, Martin Plocki (Regina); his half siblings, Herman Plocki, Rita Plocki, and Eveline Plocki; his nieces, Kathy, Karen, and Kim; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
