February 9, 1941 — October 2, 2017

On the afternoon of Monday, October 2, 2017, Harry Burritt Jennings, Jr. 76, joined his Lord and Savior in heaven.

Mr. Jennings was born on February 9, 1941, in Milledgeville, Georgia to the late Harry B. and Amie Smith Jennings. His stepfather, Chester Hodges, also preceded him in death. He graduated as a member of the high school class of 1959 at Georgia Military College before attending Georgia Tech where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 1963. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Captain. Subsequent to his military service, he served as Launch Control Engineer for the Apollo flights to the moon. He also successfully worked on the telescope mount for SkyLab. Later, he worked as an electrical engineer on Robins Air Force Base, retiring after 28 years. Mr. Jennings was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who cherished time spent with his family, always actively supporting his children’s activities. In his spare time, he loved to read and tend to his beautiful vegetable garden. A lifelong Episcopalian, Mr. Jennings was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara M. Jennings; his children, Harry Jennings III (Amber) of Washington, D.C., David Mitchell Jennings of Warner Robins, and Nancy Jennings Aburto of Rome, Italy; his grandchildren, Nancy Tift Aburto, Louis Aburto, Chloe-Kate Jennings, David Mitchell Jennings Jr., and RoseMarie Sybil Jennings; and his siblings, Larry Hodges (Lynn), Lin Hodges (Karen), Nelson Hodges (Jane), and Amy Hodges.

The memorial celebrating Mr. Jennings’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at All Saints Episcopal Church with The Rev. Scott Petersen officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in the church parish hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made in memory of Harry Jennings to the Altar Guild at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1708 Watson Boulevard, Warner Robins, Georgia 31093 or to Pine Pointe Hospice and Palliative Care, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia 31210.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mr. Jennings’s arrangements.
