Calvin Jackson "Jack" Mauldin, Jr.

August 30, 1948 — October 22, 2017

Calvin Jackson Mauldin, Jr. was born in his parents’ home outside of Healdton in Carter County, Oklahoma on August 30, 1948. He passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon, Georgia. Jack was the eldest child of Calvin Jackson Mauldin, Sr. and Irene Grace (Strawn) Mauldin.

He proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam from September 26, 1968 through July 2, 1970. Jack graduated from Healdton High School in 1966 and East Central College in Ada, Oklahoma in 1973. Upon graduating from college, he worked in the garment industry for seven years. In 1987, Jack started work at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He moved to Warner Robins, Georgia in 2001, working at Robins Air Force Base. Jack retired in August 2010.

His passions were extensive. Jack was a devoted family man, patriot, outdoorsman, nature lover, history buff, marksman, certified NRA instructor and Ham radio operator. He was proud of his ancestral lineage and was an officer and member of numerous ancestry organizations. Jack was the Vice President of the National Society of the American Revolution (SAR) Ocmulgee Chapter, and a proud member of the Descendants of Texas Rangers, Sons of the Republic of Texas (SRT), and MENSA.

Jack met Linda Botello at Lucchese Boot Company in 1981 and they were married in 1982. He was a devoted and loving husband and partner throughout their 35-year marriage.

He loved to be outdoors hiking, canoeing, camping, and hunting. Jack thoroughly enjoyed nature and some of his fondest memories were of his times in the woods with friends or family.

Jack was a great father who always made it a priority to share experiences with those he loved. Whether it was sitting on the roof to watch a space shuttle streak across the sky, driving to the middle of nowhere to watch a meteor shower, or heading to the mountains in search of family history, he was always up for the next adventure. Jack also made it to every recital, play, soccer game, cross-country, track event, graduation, or wedding his children were in, regardless of the distance. He cheered, clapped, encouraged, consoled, congratulated and always beamed with fatherly pride. Jack dedicated himself to handing down any skills he possessed, and instilled a strong sense of tradition and family through his words and actions. He was a wonderful role model of all that being a husband and father could and should be. Jack often said his children were his greatest accomplishments in life, and his family his greatest joy.

Jack is lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda Mauldin of Warner Robins, Georgia; mother, Irene Stewart and brother, Bobby Mauldin, both of Healdton, Oklahoma; sister, Sandra Fink (Bill) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and his children, John Mauldin of Warner Robins, Georgia, Adam Mauldin (Tiffany) of Savannah, Georgia, and Caroline Mauldin of Newnan, Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin and his stepfather, Clarence Tom Stewart.

Special note to Jack from your family: You were such a large presence in our lives that your absence leaves a huge void, and our sorrow is deep. We console ourselves with the knowledge that you are no longer suffering. We pray that you are at peace, surrounded by your ancestors and friends who have preceded you in death, and that you know that you are loved and missed.

TTFN,

Your loving family.
