Carlos Monserrate, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 4, 2018. He was 70 years old.
Carlos was born in Salinas, Puerto Rico on November 9, 1947 to the late Carlos and Antonia Haddock Monserrate. He was retired from the New York City Department of Sanitation Police as a peace officer and was of the Catholic faith. Carlos always had an interest in collectibles and enjoyed spending his free time shopping at Smiley’s Flea Market, and various pawn shops and antique stores. He had a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles, and antique and classic cars, as well. His family was most important to him as they always came first, especially his grandchildren.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 31 years, Christine Cotugno Monserrate of Warner Robins; children, Tony Monserrate (Lucia) and Joy Monserrate, both of Old Bridge, New Jersey, and Christina Chase (Ervin) of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; grandchildren, Lucy, Charlie and Juliette Chase, and Antonio and Francesca Monserrate; and brothers, Carlos “Pepi” Monserrate (Irma) and Carlos "Ivan" Monserrate.
A memorial gathering will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A memorial service celebrating Carlos’ life will be held at a later date in New York.
