Carmen Lewis Dickey Graham

March 21, 1910 — March 17, 2005

Carmen Lewis Dickey Graham, 94, left her residence in Elberta Health Care to go to her Heavenly home to be with her Jesus on Thursday, March 17, 2005. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 20, 2005 at Shirley Hills Baptist Church with interment following in Oaklawn Cemetery in Fort Valley, Georgia. Visitation will be Saturday, March 19, 2005 from 6 until 8 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be made to Shirley Hills Baptist Building Fund, Foreign Missions at Shirley Hills Baptist or Hospice of Houston County 103 Westbridge Drive Warner Robins 31088.

The Reverend Andy Cook and Dr. Napp Grande will officiate. Her nephew Herbert Hildabrand will speak about his Aunt Carmen. The OES chapter 390 of Lizella will have a service for her at Oaklawn Cemetery. Mrs. Carmen Graham was a native of Eastman, Georgia, daughter of the late John and Katherine Reaves of Rhine. Carmen taught music at Chauncey High School for many years. She formed the FFA Quartet and Club at Chauncey. She and the Quartet went to the Veterans hospital in Dublin, Georgia and performed for all of the Veterans. She was also the organist and pianist for the First Baptist Church in Eastman.

In 1958 she met and married Clifton Dickey of McCaysville, Georgia. Carmen served 15 years with the National March of Dimes Foundation.

She served with the Christian Service Corps, a missionary of the Southern Home Mission Board from 1974-1991. She moved to Warner Robins in 1978. She continued to volunteer and work in the Foreign Mission Field serving in Arizona, Washington State, North Carolina, Alaska, Hawaii, Lake Placid, and New York for three years during the 1980 Olympics. She served in many other states and the Summer Missions in Daytona, Fl. She was a member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church and was the pianist the senior Sunday school department for a number of years. She was member of the Keenagers choir. Carmen crowned the First Miss International City Queen in 1988. Carmen met and married George Graham in April of 1991. Carmen became a member of the Lizella OES Chapter 390 after she married George where he was member of the OSE. Carmen was the chapter mother of the OSE for one year.

Carmen was crowned the 2003 Valentine Queen at Elberta Health Care. She has a wide range of Christian servant hood, teacher, prayer warrior, encourager, musician, and home missionary volunteer.

Carmen had three very dear and close friends treated as her daughters and she as their mother are Sandra Stiles Parker of Catersville, Georgia whom she met while living on McCaysville, Georgia in 1958 and have stayed in close contact with each other all these years. Patsy Hovey of Bonaire visited her regularly and called to check on her often. Pauline Smith of Warner Robins, who visited her often, took her to Sunday school and church where Carmen taught Sunday school.

Carmen married Robert C. Lewis in 1926 and he preceded her in death in 1958. She was also preceded in death by sons, Clinton A. Lewis, John E. Lewis; parents, John and Katherine Reaves; sister, Nadine Hildabrand; brother, John C. Reaves; husbands, Clifton Dickey; George Graham.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Georgia Mae Lewis, Warner Robins; grandchildren, Sheryl L. Middlebrooks, Albany; Clinton A. Lewis, Bonaire; Robert H. Lewis, Perry; John W. Lewis, Warner Robins; six great grandchildren; two great-great grandsons; nephews, Herbert Hildabrand, Savannah; Ronnie Reaves, Albany; niece, Debbie Farr, Leesburg, Georgia.
