Carola E. Bloodworth

February 11, 1940 — October 20, 2017

Carola Bloodworth, age 77 and resident of Bonaire, Georgia, died peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2017 while surrounded by her family and friends.

Carola was born on February 11, 1940, the sixth of eight children born to Karl and Josephine Kohler. She spent her formative years in her hometown of Heidelberg, Germany where she met her future husband, Bill Bloodworth of Pineview, Georgia, who was an Honor Guard in U.S. Army. After a courtship of six months, the two moved to America to begin their family. Carola expressed her love for her family and friends through her tireless service and devotion, selflessly offering her time, money, and effort to continually brighten the lives of those around her.

She was a quick study, learning English and entering the workforce almost immediately. Carola started in a sewing factory, then progressed to a contract administrator/book keeper as a U.S. Government contractor. Her career was put on hold to give birth and raise her daughter. She restarted her career as a Teller in the banking industry and moved to the Head Teller position. Carola held this position until she retired in 2002.

Carola is survived by her husband, Bill; her daughter, Stephanie (Neil), and granddaughters, Olivia and Sara; her son, Billy (Lori), and grandsons, Joshua (Anna) and Nathaniel (Melissa); her great-grandchild, Penelope; her sisters, Marga, Thea, and Priska; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends too numerous to count.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2017 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with the Rev. Julius Raines and Rev. Mike Slade officiating. Carola will be laid to rest in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Pulaski County.
