On the evening of Sunday, December 17, 2017, Caroline Columbia Stephanie Kaschuk, 94, entered into the presence of the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, her parents, Frank and Isabel Stachura, and her brother, Raymond Stachura (Helene).
Caroline was born July 9, 1923 on the SS Columbia, an excursion ferry returning to Detroit from Bob-Lo Island in Canada. She worked for Cadillac Motors for 30 years before retiring at age 50. In retirement, Caroline was both an avid reader and craftswoman. She enjoyed crocheting, leatherworking, and ceramics. Caroline was a devout member of St. Anselm's Church in Dearborn where she volunteered both to be a communion minister and to bring the Eucharist to the sick and homebound. When she moved to Georgia, she joined Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughter: Gloria Bester; her grandchildren: Janet Bester-Meredith, (Charles), Joseph Bester (Erin) and Jeffrey Bester (Shaina); her great-grandchildren: Justin, Caroline, Claire, Helen, Amy, Leo, Max, and Dorothy Bester; and Alexandra, Luke, and Isaac Meredith.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church Building fund, 300 S. Davis Drive, Building 300, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
A Rosary with Visitation will be Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 6:00 pm at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 11:00 am in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be held on January 3, 2018 at 10:00 am at Holy Cross Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan.
