Carolyn Gaylor Boyt

July 12, 1935 — February 28, 2017

Carolyn Boyt, 81, passed into the hands of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 28, 2017.

Carolyn was born on July 12, 1935 in Opelika, Alabama to the late Robert and Viola Steward Gaylor. In 1941, she moved with her family to Warner Robins where they lived until 1944, then they moved to Manchester, Georgia. There, Carolyn graduated from Manchester High School where she was a member of the Beta Club and earned the title of Salutatorian of her class. Following high school graduation, she attended X-Ray school at Grady Hospital and was a Radiology Technologist for over 40 years. Carolyn worked at numerous healthcare facilities throughout Georgia taking a few years off in between to raise her children.

In August of 1963, Carolyn met the love of her life, Herbert, on a blind date and they married in November. Together, they raised three beautiful children to know and love Jesus Christ. Carolyn was a longtime and very active member of Shirley Hills Baptist Church since 1971 where she was a much-loved Sunday school teacher for a number of years. She was also deeply involved with the Keenagers and served two years as Vice President and two years as President. Through the Keenagers and Rehoboth Ministry to Appalachia, Carolyn dutifully supported the people there by sewing dresses, caps, and pillowcases. She was a skilled seamstress, sharing her talent with many friends, family, and ministries. Carolyn was also skilled in the kitchen as a cook and baker. A woman of faith and the heart of the Boyt family, she will be forever missed by each person who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Gilbert Gaylor.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her loving husband of 53 years, Herbert Clifford Boyt of Warner Robins; children, Sarah Boyt Culberson (Timothy) of Covington, Georgia, Amy Boyt Krob (Joseph) of Silverhill, Alabama, and Mark Clifford Boyt (Erin) of Lawrenceville, Georgia; grandchildren, Robert, Rachel, Ruby, and Renee Culberson, Olivia Krob, and Joseph Krob, Jr.; sister, Ann Gaylor Jackson (Robert) of Lizella and Robert Gaylor (Donna) of McDonough; sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Gaylor of Warner Robins; and a large extended family.
