Caronee Boyd

Caronee Boyd, 97, returned home with the Lord on Monday, September 11, 2023.

Caronee was born on July 1, 1926, in Cordele, Georgia to the late William Alexander and Fannie Pearl Hurt. A dedicated mother, “grandma”, and “Nema”, Caronee was one of the most selfless people you could meet. She was faithful to her husband and the Lord; always a prayer warrior and very active in her church, she was a Ladies Missionary Leader, solo singer, and member of the choir. Caronee was an absolute force when it came to managing her home and family. She garnered skills during this time such as becoming an amazing cook, an incredible seamstress who made all her kids’ clothes, and making ceramics which were later showcased at the fair. In her free time, she could be found spending time with her dogs (her babies), Rosco and Winston. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, Caronee was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dewey Boyd, along with six of her nine siblings.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Janice Holloway of Kathleen, Georgia, Larry Steven Boyd (Charlotte) of Boise, Idaho, and Rickie Glenn Boyd (Robin) of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Stephanie Sanders (Greg) of Perry, Georgia, Brandi Geiger (Grayson) of Williston, Florida, Jason Boyd, formerly of Savannah, Georgia, Joshua Boyd of Savannah, Georgia, Kevin Holloway (Tiffani) of Perry, Georgia, J.R. Boyd (Katie) of Willison, Florida, Robbie Morton (Beth) of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jeanette Dodds (Tyler) of Boise, Idaho; along with 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, September 15, 2023, from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 4:30 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery, where Caronee will be laid to rest.
