Cecil Ladon Walker

On the afternoon of Friday, February 24, 2023, Cecil LaDon Walker, 75, joined his Lord and Savior in heaven.

Don was born on July 24, 1947, in Ocilla, Georgia to the late Cecil and Lula May Burgess Walker. He graduated from Willingham High School in Macon and then attended the University of Georgia where he graduated with his bachelor’s degree. Eager to learn, Don briefly attended law school prior to beginning his career with the Georgia Department of Corrections where he retired after many years of dedicated service. Don was a member and deacon of Byron Baptist Church where he had been active in the church brotherhood and was a former Sunday School teacher of the Seekers Class. He loved to read books of any kind but mostly enjoyed studying his Bible. In his younger years, Don enjoyed weightlifting and working out with his son, Sam. He was a big fan of the University of Georgia football and the Atlanta Braves. Don was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janice Walker Barlow.

His memory will forever be treasured by his adoring wife of forty-two years, Brenda Walker; son, Sam Walker of Byron; sister, Ann Hamrick (Donnie) of Macon and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Visitation with Don’s family will be Monday, February 27, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Byron Baptist Church with the funeral service celebrating his life immediately following at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Bill Barnes officiating.
