Cecil William Bruton

Cecil William “Bill” Bruton, Jr., 61, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2004 in an auto accident. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 29 at Central Baptist Church with interment following in Parkway Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to WCOP Christian Radio 99.9 FM, 1006 First St., Perry GA 31069.

Mr. Bruton was born in Gaffney, South Carolina. He graduated from Mars Hill College in North Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion. An ordained minister, he served as a bi-vocational pastor in Franklin, NC and in Mocksville, NC. He was currently employed as the station manager for WCOP 99.9 FM. Bill was a member of Central Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher for the Singles III class. His father, Cecil William Bruton, Sr. preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Nelda Owenby Bruton, Warner Robins; mother, Alma Mae Baumgardner Bruton, Charlotte, NC; children, Angela Marie Holland (Richard), Franklin, NC, Eric William Bruton (Cheryl), North Augusta, SC, Kimberly Renee Bruton, Macon; brother, Gary Wayne Bruton, Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Amanda Joy Hardegree, James Steven Hardegree and Corey Bryan Holland.
