Cecilia Herren

Cecilia Herren, 82, earned her wings on Monday, October 29, 2018.

She epitomized the genteel southern woman; always ready with a smile, a kind word and a great potato salad and broccoli casserole. Cecilia doted over her 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren daily. She was a fighter enduring several rounds of chemotherapy with grace and dignity.

To know Cecilia was to know you were her favorite. She was a passionate fan of Clemson and UTC football. Cecilia attended almost every UTC game for four years supporting her grandson.

Graduations, family reunions and holidays were all festive times where she served up wonderful food and extra helpings of love. Even after traveling the world for 58 years with her husband, Tommy Herren, she continued to travel after his passing. It took only a comment to set her off on another road trip.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Lee Herren (Bonnie) of Snellgrove, Georgia, Phillip Keith Herren (Rosanna) of Dalton, Georgia, Patricia Harper (Andy) of Byron, Georgia, and Wade Herren (Kim) of Perry, Georgia; grandchildren, Sandy Herren Bryant, B.J. Herren, Aaron Harper, Amanda Harper, Logan Herren, Synjen Herren, Matthew Conner, William Herren, Michael Herren, Sara Beth Herren, and Anna Herren; and great-grandchildren, Thomas Bryant and Gavin Bryant.

Visitation services for Mrs. Herren will be held at McCullough Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 31 from 5:00 p.m. until 7.00 p.m. and Thursday, November 1 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Mrs. Herren will be laid to rest at Andersonville National Cemetery immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Mrs. Cecilia Herren to Summerhill Nursing Home, 500 Stanley Street, Perry, Georgia 31069 or to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church - Attic Treasures, 1209 Macon Road, Perry, GA 31069.
