Charles Dexter Sylvester

October 24, 1958 — November 5, 2016

Dexter Sylvester, 58, suddenly passed away on the evening of Saturday, November 5, 2016.

Born on October 24, 1958 at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, Dexter moved with his family to Warner Robins as a young man and graduated from Warner Robins High School in 1975. Following graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps where he served proudly as a U.S. Embassy Security Guard stateside and abroad, achieving the rank of Sergeant. Dexter most recently worked as an electrician for All-State Electrical Contractors in Macon and was affectionately known as "Dexter Allstate." He was also an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, but above all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles David Sylvester, Sr. and brother, Michael D. Sylvester, Sr.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving sons, Robert Sylvester of Warner Robins and Ian Sylvester of Sacramento, California; mother, Ruby Sylvester of Warner Robins; siblings, Deborah Marney (Mike) of Warner Robins, John Sylvester (Pam) of Silverhill, Alabama, Daniel Sylvester of Milledgeville, and Steven Sylvester (Kristy) of Warner Robins; sister-in-law, Patsy Sylvester of Perry; one stepsister, four half-brothers, and two half-sisters of Ohio; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 12th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 13th in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. After the service, Dexter will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations be given in memory of Dexter to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Gift Processing Administrator, 18251 Quantico Gateway Dr., Triangle, VA 22172.
