Charlie B. Harper, Jr.

December 19, 1937 — September 11, 2019

Charlie B. Harper, Jr., age 81, went to Heaven on Wednesday, September 11, 2019.

A native of Perry, Georgia, Charlie was born on December 19, 1937 to the late Allie and Charlie B. Harper, Sr. and lived in the middle Georgia area all of his life. He graduated from Perry High School and attended Georgia Southern University in pursuit of a degree in Education. Mr. Harper furthered his schooling at Peabody College, now known as Vanderbilt University, and graduated from the University of Georgia. He was a well-loved principal at both Miller Elementary and Shirley Hills Elementary for a combined total of 38 years.

Charlie was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Warner Robins where he served as an usher, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Winmore Sunday School class and United Methodist Men’s Group. In his free time, he enjoyed working in the yard and garden, going to the mountains, and reading. Mr. Harper also loved anything art-related and taught pottery classes to groups of all ages over the years. Though he enjoyed many different pastimes, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, filled his heart with the most joy!

Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Frances B. Harper of Warner Robins; daughters, Kimberly Harper and Ginger Harper Hart (James Michael), both of Cumming; grandchildren, Madison and Payton; and sister, Nina Harper Rogers of Perry.
