Charlie Grady Railey

Charlie Grady Railey, 70, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. He was born on September 19, 1943 in Columbus, GA, to Carl Leon and Eathel Williams Railey.

He grew up in Macon, Georgia, graduating from Lanier Senior High School in 1961. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army 2nd Infantry Division, 7th Cavalry. He then began his career in the cable TV industry, starting as a lineman and advancing to Vice President of Governmental Relations for Jones Intercable in Denver, Colorado prior to retiring back to Georgia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Carl "Buddy Railey, and a grandson, Joshua Railey.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jackie Roberts Railey; his children Patrick (Lisa) Railey, Chris (Suzanne) Railey, and Brandy (Matt) McDow; his siblings Madge James, Ken (Patricia) Railey, Marie (Chuck) McClendon, and Alice (Ronnie) Hardman; and seven grandchildren Bryan, Caleb, and Jason Railey; Carl and Emily Railey; and Sam and Abby McDow.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering on Tuesday, May 13 from 4pm to 7pm at the Charles H. Jones Pavilion of the Allman Brothers Band Museum, 2321 Vineville Avenue, Macon, Georgia, to share stories and memories in celebration of his life as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation or the charity of your choice.
