Chester F. "Chet" Lambert

February 27, 1933 — October 4, 2015

Chester F. "Chet" Lambert passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at The Lodge in Warner Robins. Chet was born in Bemis, West Virginia, to the late Ray and Vella Nelson Lambert. After high school, Chet joined the United States Air Force from which he later retired, having attained the rank of Master Sergeant and having served his country for more than 20 years. He was a Bronze Star recipient as a result of his bravery and exemplary service during the Vietnam War.

After his retirement from the Air Force, Chet was employed with and later retired from Civil Service as a Supply Logistician in the Office of the Inspector General. In addition to his work, he was quick to volunteer for a worthy cause. He was actively involved in volunteering with the Museum of Aviation, the Humane Society, Meals on Wheels, and the Georgia National Fair. He was also a member of the Lion's Club. Chet had been an avid runner for much of his life, and had gathered an impressive collection of race medals to show for it. A highlight from his years of running was winning the Peachtree Road Race for his age division in 1977. One could also say that Chet may have been loosely seen as a "guest editorialist" for the local newspapers based on his frequent writing of outspoken letters to the editor. He loved children and was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. Finally, Chet was an active and well-loved member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Perry, where he served as an Usher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mabe Sharp.

Chet is survived by his loving wife of more than 30 years, Patricia "Pat" Lambert; and his devoted daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Hoffman (George), all of Warner Robins; two step-sons, John McGee (Debbie), Key West, Florida; Timothy E. Rehm, Atlanta; grandchildren, Destiny Edwards (Justin), Warner Robins; grandson, Dr. Dustin Hoffman (Whitney), Akron, Ohio; Kara McGee, Conary McGee, and Alaina McGee, all of Key West; great-granddaughter, Miley Grace Edwards, Warner Robins; niece Dee Conrad (Del), Elkins, West Virginia; and three sisters, Jean Whytsel and Wanda Ramsey, both of Florida; Alice Brooks, of New York; as well as numerous other relatives and many wonderful friends.

A Memorial Service honoring Chet's life will be held on Monday, October 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. Inurnment will immediately follow, along with the rendering of Military Honors, in the courtyard at St. Christopher's. The family will receive friends afterwards in the Parish Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 1207 Macon Road, Perry, GA, 31069.

Finally, it would have been Chet's sincere wish that to honor his memory his friends not cast votes for Hillary Clinton.
