Cmsgt. John F. Mahler, Jr., Usaf (Ret.)

May 22, 1937 — June 3, 2021

John F. Mahler, Jr., a retired Chief Master Sergeant and veteran of the Vietnam War, who proudly served in the United States Air Force for 26 years, passed away at home on Thursday, June 3, 2021. He was born on May 22, 1937, in Henderson, Kentucky, to the late John F. Mahler, Sr. and Mildren Mae Brown.

In his spare time, John enjoyed golfing and traveling, but most of all loved spending time with his family. John took advantage of any occasion to be present with his faimly and was always extremely supportive of his loved ones. He was an attentive listener, active supporter, and constant source of encouragement and wisdom.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Nonglak “Lucky” Mahler; and siblings, Charles Mahler and Patricia Black.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Eric Mahler, Barry Mahler, David Mahler, Napaporn “Pam” Chulawat-Ong, Kamchornvuthi “Pawn” Chulavatr, Suthipranee “Genie” Chulawat-Salevao, and Chatikorn “Pook” Chulawat; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and oldest sister, Barbara Butler.

Visitation with John’s family will take place on Saturday, June 12, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., at McCullough Funeral Home. He will be privately laid to rest in Andersonville National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests donations be given in memory of John to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105 or to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry St., Ste. A., Macon, GA 31201.
