Curtis Mullis

September 1, 1930 — January 27, 2022

The oldest child of the late Sylvester and Pauline Mullis, Curtis passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at his residence. He was 91 years old.

Curtis was an active member of the Lions Club and a Mason. He worked for Opelika Manufacturing until his retirement. Curtis enjoyed living on Lake Blackshear, boating, tending farmland, and raising Pine trees. He was also an avid reader and always up-to-date on the news.

Curtis was a devoted Christian and a member of the Lake Blackshear Baptist Church. He served as a deacon and chairman of the deacons for many years. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He especially loved his wife of 70 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Louise Thompson Mullis; grandparents, Jacob Melton Mullis and Sarah Catherine Dykes Mullis; and Samson Parker and Abigail Hood Parker; and siblings, Charles Merrell Mullis, Catherine Wynelle Mullis, Eleanor Ann Mullis Bryson, Doris Juanita Mullis Barlow, Barbara Sue Mullis and Francis Carolyn Mullis Smith Davis.
Curtis is survived by his children, Catherine Gail Mullis Hopkins (Mike) of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Candace Page Hopkins, Kyle Matthew Hopkins, and Lauren Hopkins (Ellis Berner); great-grandchildren, Imogen and Quinn Berner; siblings, Charlene Smith (Seabron), Faye Jones, Jackie Earl Mullis, Samson Melton (Buddy) and Barbara Mullis; also survived by several nieces, great nieces, and great-great nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 1, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Afterward, Curtis Mullis will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery. For friends unable to attend at this time, the service will be streamed live via the McCullough Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mcculloughfuneralhome/live/.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Curtis Mullis to Lake Blackshear Baptist Church Building Fund, 650 Coney Rd. S., Cordele, Georgia 31015.
