Daniel E. Antkowiak

May 30, 1971 — May 6, 2015

Surrounded with love, Daniel Antkowiak Jr. of Bonaire passed away peacefully at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon on May 6, 2015. Daniel was born in Louisville, Kentucky in 1971 to Daniel E. Sr. and Judy Cosby Antkowiak. Having relocated to Macon, Daniel attended First Presbyterian Day School where he was a member of the class of 1989. At FPD, he played both basketball and baseball. He went on to attend Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri, where he graduated with a degree in Chemistry. While at Evangel, he was a scholarship baseball player and then continued his baseball career playing semi-professional ball with the Kansas City Royals organization.
A lover of sports, Daniel enjoyed softball and was an avid golfer. He was a loyal Nebraska Cornhusker football fan, but found himself also rooting for LSU after his in-law's love for the Tigers rubbed off on him. He was a member of the Macon Knights Arena Football coaching staff, and for many years he was responsible for the team's media and video production. Daniel had a passion for cooking; he was a pastry chef, and in 2009 graduated from the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Atlanta.
Daniel was medically retired in 2014 after a career in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base where he had been employed as a chemist. He was a member of The Assembly @ Warner Robins, where he served as an usher. Additionally, he and his wife spent several years teaching the First Grade Boys' Royal Rangers program at The Assembly. He was a member of the Macon Kennel Club and served as a board member despite his allergy to dogs; something he did because of his wife's love for the organization.
A cancer survivor from the age of 12, when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor, Daniel lived life thankfully and thoughtfully. He was known to write personal notes to friends and family, and was quick to show kindness. He appreciated fully the life he lived and said that he was fortunate because all of his dreams had already come true and that he had everything he ever wanted in his wife and two sons. His was truly an attitude of gratitude and friends and family alike will remember this about him.
In addition to his parents who live in Macon, also left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 14 years, Tela Jolissaint Antkowiak, and their two sons, Theodore and Thomas Antkowiak, of Bonaire.
Floral tributes will be accepted or donations may be made in Daniel's memory to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, GA 31210 or The Assembly @ Warner Robins, 6040 Watson Boulevard, Byron, GA 31008.
