Daniel Lanier Foskey

November 4, 1928 — November 27, 2017

Daniel Lanier Foskey, 89, left his earthly home to go to his heavenly home on Monday, November 27, 2017, after a four-month battle with cancer. He was known as Dan to those who knew him professionally, but was always called Lanier by his family and close friends.

Mr. Foskey was born on November 4, 1928, in Johnson County, Georgia to the late Otis and Mattie Mae Smith Foskey. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a medic on the front lines of the Korean War in 1951-52. Following his military service, he began working at Robins Air Force Base in 1953 and remained there for 33 years until his retirement as a computer operator. He earned his barber’s license in 1956 and practiced for 61 years, working for 53 of those years at Lowe’s Barber Shop in Warner Robins. He retired from the barber shop in July, 2017. Mr. Foskey was a charter member of the Warner Robins Church of the Nazarene, faithfully serving and attending there until his illness no longer allowed him to do so. He loved his family, serving his barber customers, fishing, and gardening. He was preceded in death by his brother, Remus Foskey, and his sister, Avis Carroll.

His memory will forever be treasured by his devoted wife of 65 years, Christine Foskey; his sons, Ronnie Foskey (Janet) and Wayne Foskey (Susan) of Warner Robins; his daughter Sandra Conner (Randy) of Ocoee, Florida; his grandchildren, Alicia Vogel (Travis) of Kathleen, Bethany Alred (Ryan) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Courtney Mojica (Vinny) of Winter Garden, Florida, Christa McLain (John) of Longwood, Florida, Dylan Conner of Ocoee, Florida; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Nadine Smith of Wrightsville and Hazel Johnson of Vidalia; brothers, Homer Foskey (JoAnne) of Dongola, Illinois, Earl Foskey (Wanda) of Dublin, Thurmon Foskey (Thelma) of Dublin, and Troy Foskey (Faye) of Oconee; sister-in-law, Lena Foskey of Dry Branch; brother-in-law Jack Carroll of Dublin; and many other extended family members.

The funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017, at the Warner Robins Church of the Nazarene with Reverend David Miller, Reverend Jeremy Pass, and Mr. Thurmon Foskey officiating.
