David Robert Smith

Dry Branch, GA – On the evening of Monday, February 5, 2018, David Robert Smith passed into the hands of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was 55 years old.

David was born in Bangor, Maine on April 17, 1962 and was of the Baptist faith. Growing up in a military family, he moved from base to base until finally settling in Warner Robins. David graduated from Warner Robins High School in 1981. He worked in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base for 34 years where he started as a mechanic/electrician. After much hard work and the pursuit of higher education, David served many different positions under the mentorship of Danny King. This dedication lead to his promotion into Senior Leadership, where he served at the time of his passing.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed all sports, farming, animals, working in the yard, fishing, hunting, and anything outdoors. David loved spending time with his family and prided himself in being “Papa” to four beautiful grandchildren, who thought he was “King.” He will be remembered by all who knew him as a devoted husband, loving Daddy, proud Papa, and good friend to everyone. David was a man of great integrity and was the most giving and hardworking man anyone knew.

David was preceded in death by his father, Col. Robert Duane Smith.

His memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 24 years, Belinda Smith of Dry Branch; children, Sasha Nicole Dixson (Michael), Amanda Elizabeth Walters (Brian) and Robby Hallman, all of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Emily, Camryn, Kylie, and Ella; mother, Irene Smith of Warner Robins; siblings, Brad Smith (Lori) of Austin, Texas, Wendy Castellana (Mark) of Dallas, Texas, and Andy Smith (Roxanne) of Santa Clarita, California; and a host of nieces and nephews who he adored.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 8, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Following the service, David will be laid to rest in Magnolia Park Cemetery.

McCullough Funeral Home and Crematory has the privilege of being entrusted with Mr. Smith’s arrangements.
