Doris Pyles Barr

March 21, 1924 — March 10, 2010

Mrs. Doris P. Barr, 85, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 10, 2010.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 13, 2010 one hour prior to the service at First United Methodist Church of Warner Robins. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at First United Methodist Church of Warner Robins, Reverend Missy Blumenthal officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery. In support of caregivers and those suffering from dementia, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations to Tougher Love Foundation Inc. 207 Empire Trail, Warner Robins GA 31088 in lieu of flowers.

Mrs. Barr was born on March 21, 1924 in Crawford County graduating from Crawford County High School. She continued her education at Georgia Southwestern University and the Macon Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her Nursing degree as a registered nurse. Doris retired from nursing after a lengthy career as a private duty nurse and also was employed by Mercer Health Services. A dedicated Christian homemaker, she was entirely devoted to her loving family. Proud to call First United Methodist Church of Warner Robins her church home, she was active in the United Methodist Women Organization and attended the Wesley Sunday School Class.

Her beloved husband, Charles Forrest Barr predeceased her on March 18, 2007. Her parents, John Pyles and Mattie Smith Pyles, also preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her sons and daughters-in-law, Forrest Anthony Barr (Cindy), Apopka, FL; Charles Bruce Barr (Roberta), Warner Robins; grandchildren, Forrest Britt Barr (Jenny), Largo, FL; Anthony Ryan Barr, Atlanta; Janna Nicole Barr, Warner Robins; great grandsons, Forrest Reid Barr and Hadden Joseph Barr; siblings, Vivian McDaniel, Athens; Holmes Pyles (Ann), Decatur; Mary Frances Redmond, Meigs; Winnie Adair, Powder Springs; sisters in law, Beatrice Pyles, Macon; Estelle Pyles, Fort Valley; Nora Pyles, Roberta; Maylise B. White, Warner Robins; brother in law, Lamar Christopher, Warner Robins; special niece, Gay Faircloth, Macon; and numerous other loving nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at the Church Home for the Aged for many years of faithful and dedicated service.
